From the table to the kitchen to the stock: a checklist to compare any restaurant system on the market, from the kitchen display, recipes and leftovers to delivery apps and QR table ordering, with HADAB Restaurant's answers as an example.
At a grocery, the cashier scans the barcode and prints. At a restaurant the story is longer: the order starts at the table, the counter or a delivery app, goes to the kitchen, is prepared, served and then paid. Along the way ingredients leave the stock, items come back, apps take commissions and staff eat meals. So when you compare restaurant systems, do not stop at "it has a cashier and an invoice"; look at every step of the order's journey.
This checklist helps you compare any restaurant system on the market, with HADAB Restaurant's answer as an example.
| What you need | What to ask the provider | In HADAB Restaurant |
|---|---|---|
| Order types | Dine-in, takeaway and delivery from the same screen? | Dine-in, takeaway and delivery, with drivers. |

| Sizes and add-ons | Each item with its sizes and priced add-ons? | Sizes and add-ons with their prices. |
| Recipes and dish cost | Does selling a dish deduct its ingredients from stock? | Yes, recipes deduct the ingredients with every sale. |
| Leftovers and waste | An end-of-day leftovers report? | An end-of-day leftovers report to cut waste. |
| Delivery apps | Special prices per app? Commission worked out? A direct link? | Each app with its commission and prices, and a direct Hungerstation link that brings its orders into the program. |
| Ordering from the table | Can the guest order from the phone? At what price? Any commission? | The QR table ordering add-on for 115 SAR a year, no commission per order, free during the trial. |
| Staff meals and returned dishes | Recorded without spoiling sales and stock? | Staff meals and returned dishes are both there. |
| Table reservations | Booking a table for a time? An online booking page? | Not available in HADAB at the moment. If table booking is central to your business, compare systems that offer it. |

| Internet outage | Do orders reach the kitchen if the internet drops? | Selling and printing work offline, and invoices are sent when it is back. |
| Branches | One menu and price list for all branches? | The manager device sends the menu (items, photos and recipes), prices and offers to the branches. |
At peak time, a lost or wrongly written order costs you a guest. Ask: does the order reach the kitchen the moment the cashier presses? Is there a screen showing the status of each order? Does the grill print on one printer and the drinks on another? Does cancelling an item after it is sent to the kitchen need a permission? These details matter more on a Thursday night than any other feature.
Most restaurant losses do not show at the cashier; they show in the store room: meat used beyond what was sold, or bread thrown away late at night. Software that deducts the ingredients of each dish with every sale tells you the real cost of the dish, and the end-of-day leftovers report shows what was wasted. HADAB has both, and you can also see the sales of any item by the hour, for example 12 to 4 for lunch only.
Delivery apps are now a big part of restaurant sales, but each takes a commission, and many restaurants raise the dish price on the app. Ask any system: can I set a different price for each app? Does it work out the commission so I know my net profit? Do orders come into the program directly, or does the cashier type them again? In HADAB each app (Hungerstation, Jahez, Keeta and others) has its own commission and prices, and Hungerstation is linked directly.
The guest scans the table's QR code with the phone, sees the menu with photos and sends the order with no app. When you compare, ask: is there a commission on every order or a fixed price? Does the order reach the kitchen directly? Can the guest change the prices? In HADAB the add-on is 115 SAR a year with VAT, no commission per order, and the prices always come from the restaurant's menu. Details in the QR table ordering guide.
Not every restaurant needs the same things to the same degree. Sort the list by your type of restaurant before you compare:
Pick the five points that matter most for your restaurant and make them the basis of the comparison, instead of being impressed by a long feature list you will use half of.
If any of these is essential for your restaurant, cloud systems made for restaurants may suit you better, so compare them with the same list above. For the general comparison between types of software, see POS alternatives in Saudi Arabia.
Download the Restaurants & cafés edition, enter ten items with their recipes, try a dine-in, takeaway and delivery order, unplug the internet and keep selling, and look at the leftovers report at the end of the day. For cafés: café POS; for fast food: fast food POS.
